Moong Dal Halwa
Moong Dal halwa is very popular dessert in the rajasthan and North part of India . The Moong dal halwa helps to keep the body temp warm during the winters in the Northern Part of India . It is very famous during the marriages , parties and in festivals at home in winters among the every member of the family. It is well known for its sweet , rich & nutty flavour as it is prepared with Moong dal , ghee , sugar & dry fruits in it .
Moong dal Halwa recipe is very easy you can make it at home in a very simple steps , I made this recipe of Moong Dal Halwa few months ago & thought of sharing this amazing recipe with everyone through my blog . Some dessert need lot of patience but the end result are worth it , they are very tasty . You must try this Moong Dal halwa recipe given below ,
Moong Dal Halwa Recipe
Ingredients :
A cup of Moong Dal
1 cup of SUGAR (as per taste)
Few Saffron Strands
Chopped Nuts (Almonds , Cashew & Pistachios)
Half a Cup of Ghee
1 tsp of Raisins
1 Cup of Water
1 tsp of Cardamom Powder (Optional)
How to make moong dal halwa
Step 1 : Take a Moong dal , Wash and soak the Moong Dal in the water and leave it for atleast 4-5 hours .
Step 2 : Drain the Water and Grind the Moong Dal using very little water and make it a Paste (Little Coarse Texture is preferred )
Step 3 : Take a Kadhai on a stove and pour a ghee in it over a low-medium flame . Now add moong dal paste in it
Step 4 : Now stir the dal with ghee till the moongdal becomes brownish in colour . That will take 20-25 min. DO it Slowly.
Step 5 : While the Moongdal is Roasting , take a warm water in a cup and add the saffrom strands in it and wait for few minutes to infuse the flavour and colour .
Step 6 : Once the dal is nicely roasted add the saffron water in it . Stir continuously while adding water in it .
Step 7 : Continue to cook the dal and stir it continuous slowly till the moong dal absorb the water becomes softnes . This process usually take 10-12 minutes .
Step 8 : Add sugar in it , and mix well for 5 minutes and then add few chopped nuts in it and cook it for 10-15 minutes .
Step 9 : Now Remove the moong dal from heat and wait for few minutes let it cool for few minutes .
Step 10 : Now serve Warm Moong dal -halwa and garnish it by the chopped nuts .
